There are approximately 4500 grafted trees on the ranch. They’re about 25 years old. Every pecan tree begins as a Native tree. A cut is made in the native wood, a piece of graftwood is attached, and the incision is wrapped for protection from the elements. In the photo above, you can see the graftline, giving you an idea how small these trees were when we planted them. They’ve thrived in this rich Texas soil. |
